GARNISHMENT AND FORECLOSURE

The Garnishment Division of Fulton County State Court was created in the Fall of 1988. Previous to that date, Garnishments were considered Civil cases, and handled in several different offices.

Upon review by Court Administration, it was determined that the majority of Civil filings were Garnishments, so a separate Division was set up to handle them. In 1994 the Foreclosure Division was added.

Our office is located at 185 Central Avenue SW, Room TG900, Atlanta GA 30303, and is staffed by a Court Support Manager, Assistant Manager, and seven clerks.

Annexes are located at 7741 Roswell Road(Telephone 404-551-7640) on the North side and 5600 Stonewall Tell Road(Telephone 404-306-3014) on the South side.

Parking for our downtown office is available in the Underground Atlanta facility, which is just across the street from the Justice Center Tower. It is secured parking and very inexpensive. You may also take MARTA. Take the train to the Five Points Station, and exit at the Peachtree Street Exit. Turn right on Peachtree and go one block, turn left on Martin Luther King, Jr, Drive and go down two blocks to Central Avenue. Turn right on Central Avenue and the entrance to our building is in the middle of the block. All persons entering the building must go thru a metal detector and are also subject to a physical body search. Firearms, knives, pepper spray and other types of weapons are not allowed in the building. Smoking is not allowed in the building.

Office hours are 8:30 A.M. til 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, and we are open year round, with the exception of New Years Day, Martin Luther Kings Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, two days at Thanksgiving, and two days at Christmas. If these Holidays fall on the weekend, we are closed either the preceding Friday, or the following Monday.
